ADMISSION CRITERIA
The College of Dentistry evaluates the following items when determining
an applicant's admissibility:
- Academic performance: applicants should have an overall GPA of "B" or better (recent entering class had 3.6 overall GPA; 3.5 science GPA)
- Bachelor's degree, prior to admission is preferred; however, an applicant must complete a minimum of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) at an accredited four-year college or university. - Dental Admission Test (DAT) score of 19 or better. Effective January 2007, applicants who have taken the DAT exam three or more times must apply for special permission to take this test again.
- Two letters of recommendation submitted as part of the AADSAS application; one should be from a college science professor - someone who has worked closely with you and is able to write about your academic qualities; and one should be from someone who has first-hand knowledge of your personal qualities and characteristics such as dentists observed or employers. Additional letters from congressmen, senators, governors, mayors, alumni or members of the clergy are not helpful.
