HOW TO APPLY

Applications for the Autumn 2010 ELPD Program will be available until December 1.

The application process for all applicants is initiated through a centralized application service: PharmCAS - Pharmacy College Application Service. Competitive applicants will be invited via email to submit a supplemental application.

PharmCAS Application

• PharmCAS application: Complete the application at www.pharmcas.org.

Supplemental Application

• Supplemental application: The link to the online supplemental application will be forwarded via email by the College of Pharmacy to competitive applicants who apply through PharmCAS and designate The Ohio State University.

References

• References: All references should be submitted through PharmCAS.

DEADLINES

Submit an application to PharmCAS after August 1, but no later than December 1 of the year preceding anticipated enrollment. It is in the student's best interest to submit application materials early in order for the Admissions Committee to make a decision about an interview invitation.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Admission to the ELPD program is competitive based on a faculty committee review of the following:

• Performance in prerequisite course work*
• Cumulative and math/science grade-point averages**
• Completed bachelor's degree***
• Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT)
• Full disclosure of prior misdemeanor or felony convictions
• Personal statements completed by the applicant outlining extracurricular leadership and work experiences
• Letters of recommendation
• Personal interviews

*Prerequisite courses - Please click on the following link to review required prerequisite courses: http://www.pharmacy.ohio-state.edu/academics/pharmd/entrylevel.cfm. Prospective students should email the Professional Admissions Office at professional@osu.edu for course equivalency at other institutions or specific questions about Ohio State course work.

**Grade-point averages - Data from the 2007 entering class show an average overall GPA of 3.50 and an average score of 83% on the PCAT.

***Completed bachelor's degree - Applicants are required to have completed a bachelor's degree prior to matriculation into the PharmD program. Because they are not required to have prior pharmacy education, any undergraduate major is acceptable as long as the prerequisites are met.

All applicants are required to submit PCAT scores. Registration materials are available at:

Costs

These estimates are meant to provide a guideline for students enrolling in the 2009-2010 academic year. The estimated cost for the first three quarters includes these expenses:

Application fee (non refundable)

• Domestic - $40
• International - $50
  

Acceptance fee (non refundable)

$25 acceptance fee is required upon admission.

Deposit (non refundable)

$200 deposit is required upon admission and is applied toward the first quarter's tuition.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

International applicants from non-English speaking countries are required to fulfill the TOEFL, MELAB or IELTS requirement. If your native language is not English, you should possess a minimum level of English proficiency which is demonstrated by minimum scores as follows:

• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
  • 577 (Paper-based test)
  • 233 (Computer-based test)
  • 90-91 (Internet-based test)

OR

• MELAB (Michigan Language Assessment Battery)
  • 84

  OR

• IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
  • 7.5
