What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

My graduate program gives me the opportunity to study in an excellent research environment under the supervision of experienced professors. I believe that I am getting the academic background and experience which I will use throughout my life.

.............................................................................................................

What do you study and research?

My field of study is Electromagnetics. Specifically, I work on scattering problems and applications of high frequency methods.

What has been your experience in obtaining financial aid?

I am a research assistant here and doing research on topics related to certain
projects. At the same time, I am working on my master thesis. In my opinion, the best way to get financial aid is to try to contact with the professors and researchers who need graduate students. Ask about their research areas and tell them about your interests and background and try to match them.

What do you like about Columbus?

I most like the beauty of nature in Columbus, especially in autumn. Walking by the river in autumn, while the leaves with different colors are falling down, is really a good way of relieving stress. Population is not dense in Columbus, so there are not many problems like traffic/parking. Its quite, safe and cheap, and people are friendly.

What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

The Program of the department of Electrical Engineering at the Ohio State University has been known widely in the world because of its excellent academic work and research programs. Also, faculty members are very good and nice. Some of the faculty members are really famous in our field. It's very pleasure to have a chance to work with them.

.............................................................................................................

What do you study and research?

I have studied and worked at the ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL) as a Graduate Research Associate (GRA) since 1998. ESL is very famous for outstanding research works and well-designed academic programs in the electromagnetics area (including antenna design, measurement, and computational EM).
My specialization in research is designing and optimizing various types of antennas, especially automobile antennas (FM/GPS/SDARS). If you want to use any kind of wireless equipment, it must have an antenna. No antenna means no wireless.

.............................................................................................................

What do you like about Columbus?

I think columbus is a very nice place to study. It's not a big city like New York and it is more peaceful. There are many places you can enjoy city-life. Also, the living expenses are relatively low.

Why did you decide to be a Buckeye!?

I believe that you saw football games in last year and the championship game. That's my answer!

What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

There are two things that I truly enjoy about The Ohio state graduate program. The first is simply the wonderful opportunities that continuously present themselves to me through my time here. These opportunities encompass everything from having discussions with the intellectual elite who walk through the hallways to being a cheering member at a sporting event. The second thing that I enjoy here at Ohio State is the friendly atmosphere. This atmosphere encourages students to partake in the open door police of the professors and to have detail discussions with other graduate students about research. Through these wonderful opportunities and atmosphere, it is no wonder that such grand projects have taken root and flourished here at The Ohio State.

.............................................................................................................

What has been your experience in obtaining financial aid?

I have a research graduate position. I received it when I applied to The Ohio State. I worked with a professor on a research project.

.............................................................................................................

What do you like about Columbus?

Columbus, Ohio is a large city with a small town attitude. It is very much of a college town. Also strangely enough it has a very large foreign student body. This allows an ambitious student not only the chance of learning his or her field of study with some of the best people from around the world but also a chance to acquire a view into the life styles and cultures of many other students.

.............................................................................................................

What do you study and research?

My study of research is based on Geometrical Theory of Diffraction in the field of Electromagnetics. For my masters, I worked on a project which determined the far field pattern of an antenna embedded in a multi-layer dielectric panel. A less technical explanation on my master's thesis is assume that an antenna is placed into a snow bank in the antarctic. I determined a technique to find the antenna's radiation pattern that allows communication with a satellite passing overhead!

What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

The integrated and intensive graduate program in Electrical Engineering at Ohio State is very helpful to my learning process. The ElectroScience Lab, the laboratory that I am working in, is among the top five schools in the Electromagnetics area. Many of the faculty in the lab are very famous people in this area and all faculty are enthusiastic in teaching.

.............................................................................................................

What has been your experience in obtaining financial aid?

I applied for financial aid when I applied to the Electrical Engineering graduate program at Ohio State. I am quite lucky that I have obtained financial support from the ElectroScience Lab in terms of my GRA (Graduate Research Associate) appointment since I started the program. As a GRA student, I do research for my adviser.

.............................................................................................................

What do you study and research?

I study Electrical Engineering program, majoring in Electromagnetics.

What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

The Electrical Engineering program at Ohio State has many world-renowned faculty members and research scientists. This allows a great amount of flexibility in finding the particular area that interests you most. Many times, finding out about an intriguing topic is as easy as finding the right person to ask.

.............................................................................................................

What do you like about Columbus?

Columbus has many of the advantages of a really big city with few of the disadvantages. There are lots of great performances, events, and separate districts to explore.

.............................................................................................................

What do you study and research?

My area of interest is radar systems. I am currently responsible for integrating a pre-existing radar with a computer-controlled switching system and writing the necessary software upgrades.

.............................................................................................................

Why did you decide to be a Buckeye!?

Many students that I work with came from around the world to attend Ohio State. I am an Ohio native, so the opportunity to be part of a top research University close to home was a clear choice for me.
