Why did you choose Ohio State University for your graduate studies?

Attending Ohio State for my graduate studies was a decision that came quite easily for me. I completed my undergraduate program here and it was such a wonderful experience that I had no desire to attend any other school. I appreciate the diversity among the students, the resources available, and the educational as well as social activities that are offered on a daily basis. I have met numerous people at Ohio State, peers and professors, that have enriched my life and made my educational experience rewarding. In my opinion, Ohio State has a program that is second to none!

What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

Mostly, I enjoy the creativity and freedom that I am given to think and express my viewpoints, no matter how abstract, in the classroom. Students are encouraged to think outside of the box and this makes being in a classroom setting interesting.

I also enjoy the interactions that I experience with my peers and my professors. I have learned so much just through my involvement with people from various backgrounds. I have met many new friends that I not only interact with inside of the classroom, but outside as well.

Any comment on the Research facilities, teaching, and opportunities at Ohio State?

The research facilities at Ohio State are unbelievable! There are so many different ways to gain access to information. No matter what you are looking for, nine times out of ten you will find it at one of Ohio State’s research facilities.

The teaching style varies from professor to professor; however, it is evident that Ohio State takes great pride in recruiting the best of the best. The professors have a significant amount of knowledge to share with us and they truly make it a priority to assist us in any way possible.

The opportunities at Ohio State are endless, and while some are presented to us, the rest are here for students to seek out. All students are given the ability to get as much as they want out of their education. I say take a chance, do something out of the ordinary, and take advantage of what is being offered. One of my favorite quotes reads, “You miss 100% of the shots you never take.”

What do you like about Columbus?

Columbus is a wonderful city. There are great people to meet, many different sites to see, and lots of shopping to do! No one should get bored in Columbus because there is always some type of event taking place.

What has been your experience in obtaining financial aid?

I have been fortunate enough to receive a University Fellowship that not only covers the cost of my graduate program but also provides a monthly stipend. In my experience, Ohio State has always done its best to assist students in seeking funding.

Why did you choose Ohio State University for your graduate studies?

One of the main reasons I chose Ohio State was the environment. Not only is the Fisher College of Business a beautiful facility, but the people running the program and the students involved are so wonderful. Also, Ohio State has a great reputation around the world and wherever you end up in life, you are bound to be among Buckeyes.

What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

I think one of the best things about the Masters of Accounting program is the staff. I quickly made friends with the faculty and staff surrounding the MAcc program.

Any comment on the Research facilities, teaching, and opportunities at Ohio State?

The research facilities are amazing. It is easy to take them for granted because we have access to so many programs that, you find out later, company's spend thousands of dollars on each year. The teachers go above and beyond their call of duty. Not only do they help the students with class material, but many have taken the time to talk to me about what kind of job opportunities are available in the field of accounting and they have also shared their personal experiences with me.

The opportunities at Ohio State are endless. I have found many opportunities to help out in the community as well as provide my services within the Fisher College of Business. An Ohio State student can fill their free time very easily with the vast array of intramural sports available and the opportunity to take so many different, and very interesting, courses.

What do you like about Columbus?

Columbus definitely grew on me. One of my absolute favorite things about Columbus is the love of Ohio State athletics. It was not until recently that I got to enjoy a crazy football weekend and it really measured up to all the hype continuously surrounding the event. The fall weekends are definitely a great way to enjoy the company of fellow students and also to see how alumni never forget the love of being a Buckeye.

What has been your experience in obtaining financial aid?

I have had the opportunity to receive a full scholarship through the Ohio State Women's Volleyball Team. This was the experience of a lifetime. I will never forget the great friends and memories surrounding the team. Ohio State really takes care of the athletes and provides us with many opportunities throughout the school and community.

Why did you choose Ohio State University for your graduate studies?

I am originally from Columbus, and always grew up as a Buckeye. With the new 150-hour CPA requirements, the Masters of Accounting (MAcc) program was a perfect fit for me to earn the additional credits I needed, while earning a Masters degree on top of that. Also, with the recently built Fisher College of Business facilities, there is an obvious dedication by Ohio State to make the business school one of the best in the nation, and I wanted to be a part of that.

What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

The one thing I like most about the Masters of Accounting program is the diversity of the student body. There are students from all over the world with different cultural, geographical, and educational backgrounds. This provides for stimulating conversation both in and out of the classroom that has enriched my entire experience.

The variety also extends to the course selection available to MAcc students. I have a broad interest in business, and I have been able to take courses in finance, marketing, and consulting. This ensures that students are well rounded and are given a wide exposure to several business areas once they graduate.

Any comment on the Research facilities, teaching, and opportunities at Ohio State?

The library and computing facilities at Fisher are amazing. There are three computing labs at Fisher so you always can have easy access to a computer. The classrooms are gorgeous, and promote a professional, learning atmosphere. The faculty are always available to answer questions, or to talk about anything that is on your mind. As the Masters of Accounting program is quite new, the administration is open to any ideas to improve the program. For example, I have been involved with the Professional Development Committee, one of the three committees along with Social and Service, that was formed this year to give students more opportunities to grow outside of the classroom.

What do you like about Columbus?

Columbus is a growing city that offers both a big city and a small town feel. No matter what your interests are, Columbus has something to offer, whether it be in sports, the arts, or a wide variety of restaurants. I love going to various Ohio State sporting events, Columbus Blue Jackets hockey games, participating in various recreational activities, and eating at all the different restaurants. Columbus is certainly more than just a cow-town!

Ohio State offers a wide range of financial aid opportunities for students. I was fortunate to receive a university fellowship, which covers tuition as well as a monthly stipend. Being proactive and having good communication with administration certainly helped ensure that I could finance my education.

Why did you choose Ohio State University for your graduate studies?

I chose to attend Ohio State for a couple of different reasons. First, I knew that the quality of education offered at Ohio State was first-rate. I felt confident that the reputation of the university and its size would allow for the recruitment of an excellent faculty and student body. In addition, I wanted to pursue my graduate studies in Columbus because my wife was accepted to a graduate program at Ohio State. This university has so many diverse programs, and it is one of the only schools that allowed us both to pursue advanced degrees in our desired fields – accounting and biomedical engineering.

What do you like about your graduate program at Ohio State?

The Masters of Accounting program offers a great deal of freedom when choosing courses. Students may schedule finance and management courses in addition to the core accounting curriculum. This allows the students to gain a broad business education beyond the debits and credits of accounting. Also, the program is well organized and managed. The administration does an excellent job of creating a professional environment.

Any comment on the Research facilities, teaching, and opportunities at Ohio State?

The faculty and facilities at Ohio State are unmatched. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable in their areas of expertise, and they seem genuinely interested in the well-being of the students. The classrooms offer a business-like atmosphere conducive to study, and the computer facilities are state-of-the-art. I have been very impressed with the quality of education and the many unique opportunities available to the graduate students. For example, I feel fortunate to have been able to participate in the development and organization of an Information Services Symposium for the Fisher College of Business. This is just one of many enriching projects that I have experienced outside of the classroom.

What do you like about Columbus?

Columbus is a great town with a lot to offer. I am a big sports fan, and the Ohio State sports program is hard to beat. In addition, Columbus has professional soccer and hockey teams. The city is also rich with culture. The Columbus Symphony Orchestra is top-notch, and the downtown Art Museum is one of the gem’s of the city. In addition, the metropolitan area offers a number of unique shopping and cinema locations. My wife and I really enjoy Columbus, and we plan on living here for many years after completing our educations at Ohio State.

What has been your experience in obtaining financial aid?

I have had a positive experience with regard to financial aid at Ohio State. I have been able to combine Federal Stafford Loans with income from a Graduate Research Assistantship in order to finance my education.
